BIBLE: The Book of Psalms

The book of Psalms is part of the religious songs of David and poems referred by Christians as the Bible. There are 150 Psalms of the Old Testament. The book is divided into five sections, each ending with a doxology, a hymn of praise.

Book 1 (Psalms 1–41)
Book 2 (Psalms 42–72)
Book 3 (Psalms 73–89)
Book 4 (Psalms 90–106)
Book 5 (Psalms 107–150)

There are several types of psalms, including hymns or songs of praise, communal and individual laments, royal psalms, imprecation, and individual thanksgivings. The book also includes psalms of communal thanksgiving, wisdom, pilgrimage, and other categories.
Hymns are songs of praise for God's work in creation or history. Other faith-centered including Christians use the Book of Psalms to invoke spirits, lighting candles and follow certain rituals depending on the situations. This is why this book should be used with caution and wisdom. The themes of the book of psalms are categorized into several types:

1. Hymns of Praise: To glorify God's greatness and majesty (e.g., Psalms 8, 19).
2. Laments: Seeking empathy and comfort in time of need. (e.g., Psalms 22, 42).
3. Thanksgiving: Expressing gratitude for God’s blessings and deliverance (e.g., Psalm 30).
4. Wisdom Psalms: Offering insights on living a righteous life (e.g., Psalm 1).
5. Royal Psalms: Highlighting God's kingship and majesty often referring to Israel's earthly king (e.g., Psalm 2).

First, it is best to establish righteousness, asking for forgiveness and plead to the highest God for enlightenment. Second, avoid misuse, misjudgment without prior understanding. Third, consecration may require devotion to the extent of making connection before proceeding with request for revenge; rather seek selflessness. For most Christians, acknowledgement of wrong doing may bring a person to his her knees and seek forgiveness; in which case God is the ultimate judge. There are alternative approaches including faith, worship, and human experience. Establishing relationships determine the content of the pleading in seeking justice, petitions our hearts desire reflects a deep relationship between humanity and the divine, emphasizing both personal and communal interactions with God and to intervene. More importantly, God likes praises; approaching with thanksgiving and praise may initiate faithfulness and God's power as the cornerstone. Many honorable characters are found in the book of Psalms including King David (a warrior), Moses (a leader), king Solomon and prominent poets to make up the book of Psalms.

For Christians, knowledge of the Bible is important and to worship him in spirit and in truth is the ultimate purpose for devotion and relationship building. Strengthening one's beliefs system often required reflection in understanding how to abide and be fruitful. God is not like human, rather in spirit surrendering is the best way to show reverence and trust in Him.
