READING STRATEGIES:  In a Nutshell

Types of Reading: By Genres

Reading Level:

Early Childhood Literacy

Understand reading based on context, tone, culture, & elements of literature /literacy

Fast reading can be achieved by glancing and scheming through content for specific content or information. Keywords and terms often help navigate through the content.

My  first go-to for reading is the KWL
What I Know | What I Want to know | What I Learned

This makes reading fun and engaging.

My second go-to for reading is the basic elements of Storytelling.  (Characters, settings plot, and themes) Good writing is worthy of reading.

My third go-to reading strategy is the Ws. in reading headlines: WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN & WHY

This basic outlines for further reading consideration.

The following reading strategies are exploratory based on learning style and objectives. At University level, Reading is both leisure and academic time invested to retain knowledge and built knowledge. While speed reading is time efficient and strategic; to retain content using reading framework is recommended.

To sum it all up, discovering the book by previewing captivating illustrations; genres of predictions; title intriguing for questioning what it's really about; inferring based on previous knowledge; connect with familiar author or subject. Review and attempt to retell the story or make recommendations for add-on or commentary.
